Crazy weekend

In hindsight, still crazy.

Saturday: Had a RenFaire cast social in New Orleans. Marcie wanted to do a movie night. Chad had the brillant idea to combine them both on Saturday. Give Joe a ride down to New Orleans and he runs late arguring with his girlfriend. Left the social about 3pm, New Orleans traffic is abysmal and Joe has the bright idea to take the Causeway.

My fear of bridges--that only really kicks in now when I'm driving--kicks in when it's too late to get off the damn feat of modern engineering. I swear when my car went across the draw bridge section the wind lifted it up.

By the time we finally got home, Marcie had been waiting for an hour. Nothing goes wrong the entire time she's there. Small miracle. She goes home and Chad wants to watch "Mystery Men." We end up crawling into bed at midnight.

Sunday: 5:30am We're awakened by a crash on the road in front of my house. I figured somebody wrapped themselves around a tree. Two trucks were parked, one in my driveway, the other across the street; and a cop car is there in minutes.

I get jeans and slippers on before Chad and go out to see if they need any help. In the yard, I see the car that is smashed up is a Jeep that the camilla bush blocked view of from the window. Then I hear gallopping and nickering in the backyard.

Now we have had cows break loose and come visit. I remember one night Mom brought us home and it looked like a cattle drive across the yards. A horse is a new experience. Pretty grey horse, scared, the lights keeping it away from the road and the undergrowth keeping it out of the roads. Back inside for sports bra and hiking boots.

A girl from the ambulance, a volunteer fire fighter, two sheriff deputies, Chad and me finally manage to corner the poor horse. Turns out the Jeep was one of my mom's friends and she hit and killed the red horse. Apparantly the pair of them have been hanging out by the river, and my cousins who live back there were playing the Finders Keepers game but couldn't grab them. Luckily mom's friend Nancy only got scratched up and probably has whiplash now. My cousins still have the white horse and we're hoping to get it away from them. They can't take care of their dogs, much less a horse.

Nope still a crazy weekend in hindsight.

President's Day, and completed projects

The Ad Analysis is finished. I was panicked that I wouldn't finish it and that I would underwrite the assignment. Got seven pages of text and needed at least six full pages.

Now I'm waiting for the trolley so I can go check out the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers. My other worry proved true, I have the wrong MLA book for the assignments. Luckily, it's at the State Library and I can check it out. But are the trolleys running today? If not, I got to go up to the office and find my keys.

Checked with the security guards and they say the trolleys are running today. I wish it wouldn't get caught up at lunch time. The trolley is a fleet of three buses designed like trolleys that run around downtown. Supposed to be fourteen minutes between them, but since it just got here now, it's more like seventeen plus. I'm not complaining; there's never any parking at the State Library.

Now that the Ad Analysis is done, I need to see what the next assignments are. I also need to create a writing schedule so I don't get overwhelmed by the major projects in both classes and the script.

Crazy weekend: do I really want to go into that again? Yeah, eventually. Just not right now. I need to read for class tonight.

Busy, busy, busy

Yesterday, I was the only batcher, which made me too busy to blog. And after work, I went out and spent too much money on DVDs. *Sigh* My fiscal responsibility sucks. I just hope the tax return comes today.

Lunch time dilemnia

Frozen dinner portions are too small. Why did I have a frozen dinner for lunch? No cash till tomorrow. :p

I just don't know what I should be doing. *Sigh* If I was at home, I'd have too much to do.

Better read the Mystery Lover's Book of Quotations since it's due back to the Library Saturday.

Busy? Only according to some

Life is full right now, and I'm only trying to do everything I want and have to do. (Paying job and household chores fall under have to. I tried giving them to Mustard but he doesn't want to cooperate.)

I'm trying to make a concentrated effort (and boy does it take a lot of concentration!) to blog about the upbeat things in my life. They do exist, but I spend too much time and energy focusing on the bad and down. Save the wallowing for the naps (more advice from Page After Page) and the fiction.

Valentine's Day wrap-up. Yesterday was the day for lovers. Chad had already given me my present, a little cat Cupid pin, which I wore all day. Then once I got done with class, he took me out to Adobe. And the evening went great. I didn't have any fits like I did last Saturday to spoil the night out. *Sigh* Though I think that was a good deal of left-over PMS, and low frustration point because he wasn't comprehending why a movie he had seen (and I don't think he was that impressed with) meant such a big deal to me.

He'll like his Valentine's Day present, once payday gets here and I can buy it. :p

Course, going out meant I got home too late to work on script, but I think I needed a day away from it. I got a few lines done this morning before I had to go. If I would actually break down the food into lunch-size portions, it probably would shave off a few more minutes of getting ready time. I'm not stressing about it. I need the formating book and it's not going to be here until the end of the week, hopefully. On order.

Still have reading for tonight's class to catch up on. Better get started on that while doing these lawsuits.

Back at work

And ready to run away screaming. I love this place. Really I do.

Page After Page picked a good time to come into my life. I need to hear a lot of messages in it. Writing is the thing, not publishing. Why do you waste so much energy complaining about something you have an option of not doing (i.e. writing)? If you can't find time to write, maybe you're not a writer. I'm rereading the book already, and will probably do the exercises in Discipline Under Fire.

Probably not today though. I have homework. :p

Been a busy weekend

Buried Mervin on Friday. Saturday worked on script, and then Chad took me to Phantom of the Opera the movie, FINALLY. It was worth the wait. I think they missed an opportunity to make Erik as hideous as he is in the novel, but it wasn't my call to make. They added the mirror room back, that was cool.

Sunday working on the script so more. And homework in between. It's not quite never ending, this script, but sometimes it feels like it.

Back to work tomorrow. Imagine my joy. :p

Still in recovery

Finally got to the doctor today. Luckily, it was nothing serious just a cold and I seem to be on the upswing. I got worried when hacked my throat to bleeding one night. And the coughing all night is no fun. I got a prescription for a cough medicine with a sedative. Hopefully this will be it. Apparantly pneumonia is going around too.

So I have a few hours free. Already cooked lunch and dinner. Time to crack on the script.

Cherry flavored Theraflu

Well I was tired of tea, ate all the chicken noodle soup. But this stuff is nasty. Supposed to last eight hours so I'm dealing with it. I need to get through a night without hacking my lungs out. Scarily enough, I think I'm getting better. I can taste things again.

It's going to be a ten-year class reunion at Mervin's funeral. Everyone I have talked to has been hit the same way. It's just not Mervin. Second guessing doesn't do any good.

I should work on the script, but I can't. I'm not going to push myself. I'm going to go watch something.

Why?

Student Found Dead in Chemistry Lab

I knew him. We were good friends during middle school and high school. We drifted apart going to different universities. I never would have thought it would come to this. He's the reason I started writing Legend of Zelda stories. He started me into fanfiction, though neither of us knew at the time that's what it was.

I miss him. I will miss him even more now.

Working while sick

I agree with Heather Sellers. She's the one who wrote my new book "Page After Page." Don't work while you're sick. Don't force yourself to write. Go wallow in feeling bad and let your body recooperate. Stop feeling guilty about resting.

I didn't push myself and got 29 script pages done, all the way through Chapter Two. I don't know how I'm supposed to go to work tomorrow feeling like this. And I really don't know how bad I've got it since I've been taking Claritin. Stopping that tomorrow and see what my sinus do.

The day is looking up

It didn't start off so well. Chad wrecked his car and made me late for work, and Rick Ungar rejected my script. Yeah, that's what all the synopsis hell was about, trying to send off "Crash Landing." Now Rick Ungar did tell me what the proper channels are, but it's not worthy. It's basically a rewrite of "Rock & Ride." A better rewrite, but that's just my ego talking. That and there's no air in space!

Moving right along. As Chad's working to console me, it pops into my head that "Reunions" is original enough with some tweaking. Turning into a script is tweaking too, so no biggy there. I should be afraid at this point, because when my muse says "no biggy" it usually means lots of work. But this could be MY CHANCE. Marathon writing weekend coming on; I'll let you know how it goes.

Oh and I took the Pirate Name Test:

My pirate name is:

Iron Anne Vane

A pirate's life isn't easy; it takes a tough person. That's okay with you, though, since you a tough person. You tend to blend into the background occaisionally, but that's okay, because it's much easier to sneak up on people and disembowel them that way. Arr!

Get your own pirate name from fidius.org.

Don't worry, I'm not switching from Capt. Kate anytime soon.

Totally floored

Took the day off yesterday, because I was sick and my body demanded rest. Feel much better today, but came into work and found out that a co-worker's child has gone missing and they fear that an Internet predetor is responsible. Here's the story.

Got a new book "Page After Page." Hopefully I'll get to start it's exercises today. I also need to rework my writing schedule. I planned on having most of the tutorials done before February, but I didn't realize it was going to take the whole month to do one set of edits.

Synopsis hell. I'm almost done. Do I really think I have a chance? Not really. Most I'm hoping for is a shot at second season.

Synopsis Hell

I managed to finish the query letter yesterday. Now I have to put the entire script into a synopsis. It won't be that bad, really. I just have to think I'm summing it for telling on the blog, that's all.

But it does have to wait until I have finished reading my homework assignment.
