Came home sick yesterday. Think it was my body doing the "you haven't stopped so I'm going to make you stop" thing again. Didn't want to chance driving in this morning, so I stayed home. Course by noon, I felt fine.
My computer however does not feel fine. My CPU fan just died and it'll be sometime next week before I get replacement for it.
Hence no writing today.

Oversweetened Tea
Quote of the Day: My goal is to be accused of being strident. -- Susan Faludi
Yeah, I definetely put too much sugar in the tea; I wanted to take a nap all morning after drinking it. I was fine after lunch, but the silly meeting from the HR department went into overtime. Earned 30 minutes of K-time, but only had 30 minutes left to write. Poo.
Here's to hoping nothing stupid happens today.

Behind the scenes work done
Quote of the Day: People call me feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat or a prostitute. -- Rebecca West
I got the background organizing work done yesterday. Now I'm ready to write, or technically rewrite. Staying late is working out so well; I'm going to hate the renewal season that will screw it up.
I decided to drink more tea for my health. Only problem is I think I over-sweetened this batch. I'm going to have to go buy some Splenda or something. It would be a shame to ruin what progress I think I've made with a 16 - 20 ounce drink every morning. But iced peppermint tea is soooo yummy.
As for progress, yeah I've cracked down on the sugar and carbs I'm eating. And while I haven't noticed a change in clothes (I think I hid the scale and I don't feel like looking for it), I have noticed less extremes in emotional reactions and lethargy. I've also cut back on caffine--two cans a day--and spread out my water drinking more--instead of saving it for when I get home. Still no time for exercising. Maybe I should park my car at the front office and hike back to see Chad? Then again, I'd have to hike back in the dark.

Experiment's Progress
Quote of the Day:The great English writer and courtier Sir Philip Sidney wrote A Defense of Poetry to counter Puritan objections to what we would call fiction, the making up of stories. In his essay he addresses the morality of making up stories by asking what it is that history teaches us. He gives the example of two Roman emperors named Severus. One was cruel and evil; the other good. The evil Severus prospered and died of old age at sixty-five. The good Severus at age twenty-seven was murdered by his own soldiers. As Sidney's example shows, it is hard to make any sort of lesson out of history. Stuff happens. To make stories out of stuff, we must reshape it so that there are cause-and-effect relationships. -- J. Madison Davis Novelist's Essential Guide to Creating Plot 33
I've decided to work on Zy's novel again. Every two years seems to be the norm with that one, but I plan on finishing it this time. It's a little less ambitious than the Chosen, and it has a smaller cast of mani players than the crossover, so hopefully I should be finished with it before three years. I'm not starting from scratch, still having all the rough drafts from the beginning, when I tried working on in it in 1998, and when I tried working on it again in 2002. To make sense of all that I'm using a lot of the suggestions found in the Novelist's Essential Guide to Creating Plot by J. Madison Davis.
Sunday, I finished the plot outline from the murderer's POV. Very important because the murder victims are discovered out of chronological order. I started working on the plot outline from Zy's POV yesterday and got about halfway through with it. Next I'll do one from Xeryl's POV. Then it'll be play with them until I know which scenes must be written and what order I should put them in.
Traffic wasn't that bad going home, but I forgot I had to go shopping last night. Tonight I should be able to go straight home.

Trying something new
In effort to combat the evil I-don't-want-to-do-anything feeling I have immediately upon entering my house each night, I'm working overtime. Technically not, I'm just going to stay at work an extra hour and write. Puts me getting home later which is an ick, but I'm not doing anything there anyway.
Course I could also be heading full tilt into burnout, which I also seem to develop when I think the goal hasn't been reached in the unrealistic timetable I have set for it. Okay 4 years of university wasn't unrealistic, but still. So it looks like it's Chad's responsibility to yank me out into the real world.
Excuse me, time to write.

Not Enough Hours in the Day
Quote of the Day: A gossip is someone who talks to you about others, a bore is one who talks to you about himself, and a brilliant conversationalist is one who talks to you about yourself. -- Lisa Kirk
So please excuse my borish behavior but this is my spot to vent. I'll try to keep it entertaining. Not that it really matters for the few who read this thing.
I'm having that overwhelming feeling again. There's barely enough time for what I have to do, much less what I want to do. So what is exactly holding me back? Fear of failure, fear of rejection? So all that hits me is this "I have too much to do so why bother starting when it never gets finished?" Probably some of all the above.
Don't get me wrong. I love Chad, and he's been a good influence. I just wish I had been warned that I would share his creative tasks as well. I think I've figured out a way to make it an equal share with my writing, but it's a matter of finding the time for the both of us.

I'm not giving into the guilt reflex.
Quote of the Day: I personally think we developed language because of our deep inner need to complain. -- Jame Wagner
There is a LRF social this Saturday in Mississippi. Neither Chad and I want to go, and I gave him a top ten list of why I can't go, but we still feel guilty.
But being sick and tired of the playing creative finances everybloody paycheck and depressed about the lack of money has pretty much gotten the guilt reflex out of the way.
*sigh* I need to make a sale, but that goes back with the no time to research, or clean or anything. ARGH!

*Whimper*
Today isn't as bad as yesterday, but it still awful. We just lost two co-workers (one is only on half days, the other got sick).
The mail comes in buckets from the post office. In turn, the mailroom of the Department of Insurance sorts and brings us the mail with checks in them. Then we have to open and process the money and send the paperwork--if the company was bright enough to send backup documentation--to the proper division. Often because of volume, our mail is brought to us in buckets. We only had 2 and half today.
What I don't understand is scheduling deadlines for different division on the same day when we get all the money first. Alas it's not my place to question such things.
Okay I have 30 minutes free to write something. :p Bet it'll be answer emails.

Missed a day, oops
Quote of the Day: Delusions of grandeur make me feel a lot better about myself. -- Jane Wagner
I had a good birthday. Thank you everyone for the warm wishes. My coworker Linda bought a cake to work, and my supervisor gave me a porcelain pretty of roses and a water can. Unfortunately due to what happened to my Christmas dragon at work, it went home to be displayed there. But since without the entertainment wall unit that's on layaway I don't have a place to put it, it's still in the box.
Everyone else was working so I ended up finally getting my car's air filter and rearranging my living room furniture for the party and the wall unit that I should be able to pick up March 5th. Mom already got me the hall tree for my birthday, so I don't know if she has anything else planned.
And now the mail is here so away I go.

Always so Hard to come back after a holiday
Yesterday was a good break. I finally got the tools out of the living room, did my laundry, and Chad took me out to dinner early for my birthday. My birthday is actually tomorrow.
I had a good idea for a Faire skit. We pirates want to take over the ferry, but the problem was with scheduling last year. So this year, schedule the take-over of the ferry and then we get put on trial during Peasant Court. I have to write the trial script, but I think it'll be good.

Late tutorial
Quote of the Day: Reality is the leading cause of stress for those in touch with it. -- Jane Wagner
The only time I was really home this weekend, me and Chad were cleaning house for my party this weekend. So no, I didn't get a chance to type. I should be able to do it tonight, or maybe today if we're not swamped.
Tomorrow is off for Mardi Gras. Damn, do I need sleep. But there is just too much piled up at home to do. :p

Getting the inertia ball rolling
That's how Chad described it. With my family it's very true.
The talk with my aunt went well. Her position is that it's my grandmother's place to make a decision and she should get fair market value. That was my intention anyways, so no conflicts there. And it's going to take me a year to save for a downpayment, get the paperwork in order. So the next step is getting the property appraised.
Meanwhile, I think I found a house plan that I can incorporate into my plan. It makes a U-shape with bedrooms going down one side and a two-car garage on the other and patio and yard inbetween them. I think I can merge that onto the four rooms the easiest. So my next step is to get the measuring tape and graph paper out and start modifying. I want to disturb the landscaping I have as little as possible. Some of the trees are older than I am. And I like trees.
So now see what work is left and write the writing tutorial.

Ooooo, King Cake
Yes, work has been good. I'm going to have to go and pick one up this weekend because my birthday is falling after Mardi Gras this year by two days. *Pout* Oh well, the pirate pizza party is a good substitute.
Been looking at housing plans. HUD has guarantees on morgtages and another type of loan or grant (I still have to research that more) that allows you to get the money for the mortgage and money for renovations and pay that off with the mortgage. Typically you'd have to settle the mortgage first, then turn around and put the house or property up to get money for repairs--home equity loan. I don't know which way is better--in terms of how much I have to pay--but it's nice to see the options.
Where the housing plans come in. Mom suggested along the lines of what Uncle De had planned was tear out the bathroom, tear out the silly walls making halls, and tear off the kitchen and bedroom. That leaves you with the original 4 room cypress shotgun cottage. Then go down to a concrete slab and build kitchen, bathrooms, and four bedrooms. So I've been looking at various plans trying to see how to tackle that. Nice thing is I have the architech angle sewn up. I just need to figure out my layout.
I'm also trying to decide if I want to go to the trouble of installing central heat and air to the original part of the house. The idea being that the new part would be built to be energy efficient, we'd be adding a new hardwood floor to the original part, and new siding and potentially new roof. That would take care of a lot of the energy waste of the original part. Vents could go through the floor or the ceiling. LOL Better get the place first.
I'll probably go see my aunt and uncle on the ride home Wednesday. Tonight I have to go home and update Alt. BM and hopefully talk to Jazzie.

Long range plans
Quote of the Day: We are all born charming, fresh and spontaneous, and must be civilized before we are fit to participate in society. -- Judith Martin otherwise know as Miss Manners
I took the plunge and asked my grandmother how much she'd sell the house and an acre of land to me for. She admitted it (and I can tell by her expression) that she had never considered the idea.
Some family history, if it doesn't bore you. The tax records say the original part of the house was built in 1919. It was built as the retirement home of my great-great-grandparents Starkey on my father's side. My great-grandmother inherited it along with a bundle of land, and her brothers cheated her out of the bigger holdings in Pumpkin Center. At some point during my father's lifetime, the detached kitchen was torn down and pine lean-to added that now houses a kitchen and the back bedroom. My parents bought an acre and built their house next door when I was six or seven. Gram insisted that it was bought so it would be community property in case something happened to my father. She was a savvy lady. No one else wanted to live there at the time, and Gram's health was failing. It was a perfect solution. When she died the land and house was divided between my grandmother and my great-uncle's four kids (he had died while they were teenagers; I don't even remember him). My grandmother got the house and maybe a little over an acre with it. And then the fun started.
She moved my father's brother's family in. That only lasted a few months but they had garage sales on all Gram's belongings. We were not given the chance to go and get anything we wanted. They also moved the living room furniture out with them. That we recently got back after my uncle divorced his first wife and Mom threatened her with the law. Then our cousin my great-uncle's oldest son moved in. That lasted for 11 years, and they systematically started destroying the place. Dad finally kicked them out, and they moved a trailer onto his land right next door.
I had just graduated from college and asked if I could rent the place. My grandmother agreed and we started renovating. But instead of doing a real renovation, my uncle (who anticipated my aunt inheriting the house and it should be a rental income for her after he dies) went to work pour money into the kitchen floor, and all brand new cabinets installed over rotting sheet rock. I've already complained about the bathroom. He had to switch doors around so both bedrooms would have doors with doorknobs. He had to put a fancy deadbolt on the front door that is so thin I can kick it in. We had to get a new gas heater because the one that still worked wasn't covered under insurance. Had to put plastic lattice work around the bottom because insurance said so. We couldn't tear out an ugly added-in wall because that would get rid of the third bedroom (the one I'm using as an office). Meanwhile, the whole house needs to be releveled, the sheet rock torn out, the plumbing brought up to at least 1990s standards, and the electricity needs to be updated (the wire from the pole is original for when the first ran electricity to Pumpkin Center).
I want the house. I love the house. The only way I can get the work done on the house without having the entire family squawking over what I'm doing and how it should be done is if I own the house. The only way to insure that it stays in the family and who knows what moves in next as renters is if I own the house. The only way to get the money to do what I want is I have equity. I'm a single, white female with a steady job and decent credit. I qualify for help. Paying for the house seems to be the best way from keeping it from being a big snit-fit. Have Aunt Sissy inherit the hand or give her the money for it.
My grandmother is making a family discussion out of it. So I guess the next step is to see my aunt and father. I know I've told him I want the house, but I don't think he was there when I was talking it over with mother and what were the plans my great-uncle had for changing the house. My aunt and uncle I need to bring onto my side because they're the ones my grandmother listens to.
Time to research FHA.

The Day Romance was Invented
Okay, okay, I know I shouldn't be paying any attention to marketing, especially marketing for a diamond jewelry store. I am focused on not being depressed about today. I'm going to clean all the office stuff in the living room; fix the broken chair; dust the bedroom, bathroom, and living room; eat chocolate until I'm sick of it; check on Chad's cat; and watch goofy movies with no romantic subplots. Though I think that choice just leaves me with Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes movies.
I finished typing the changes to "the Rose" last night before the dinner party, and posted the new version to Pen to Paper.
The dinner party was small, but fun. Though I think I have to agree with Marcie's boyfriend, communication. I'm trying not to be controlling evil girlfriend (Chad and I have a mutual friend with one of those), but I never out and out said "I never had a relationship and Valentine's Day happening at the same time and I'm disappointed with the whole situation."
Time for more chocolate.

The weather is nasty
Weather shouldn't be nasty on Friday. Then again, why not? It's a rather sucky Friday all round. I hope the dinner party is fun tonight, even though I don't feel like staying very long.
Since I'm stuck at work until the dinner party, I'm going to work on "The Rose." Maybe I'll surprise myself and be finished with it.

Keeping readers happy
Alright, since I have people so curious about the mysterious message. I'll do a back up and explain.
She actually started trashing loving BMFM and recommending that all on the discussion board go get a real life before Christmas (Christmas Eve if I'm remembering correctly). Mize blew up on that one, poor kid is under WAY too much stress.
She came back Feb. 5th saying we were imprisoned by a stupid cartoon that has done nothing for us and they aren't real so go get a job, get a life, get off the board, etc. (Catching the trend here yet). To that one I told her that logging into something she admits to not liking and constantly berating those who find pleasure in it so PROVES she has a fulfilling life. Though that was sarcasm, she probably didn't get it. She did understand my comment that people might take her more serious if she actually learned how to spell, but that helpful advice would just be followed with a whine about how English is not your native tongue. I pointed out that reference books are available. FoxFire started a better thread to point out exactly what the Bros have done for you, which my answer in that thread after Iria's message I linked to led to the "Why write fiction?" thoughts.
The message: Re: GET A LIFE PEOPLE :p for U on good!!!! :P

yes my english is bad :) i don´t care much if my message is received anyway! i didn´t want to ofend none but to call for the true! this a stupid cartoon like every cartoon... mice like that don´t exist! life is much more important than to love some idiot mices that don´t exist at all... u all look like the Greeks adoring Zeus Venus etc from the mythology etc... it is out there more people that love u and what ur love!people who deserve your atention because they have done so much things for all of you!! real people with real lifes and real feelings... it is not wrong to come to here to talk with who u want but it is horrible to adore, and even LOVE like much of u do, something invented from some cartonists who want to make money and live their lifes on... do what u want ... but I just informed u! like it is said in my country : who informs you, your friend is...
have a good life, Iria
I didn't bother to point out that I know people who still worship Zues and Aphrodite, or point out the fact that the Bible is mythology too. What peeves me is the assumption that because I enjoy cartoons as a story format and art form and that I discuss it on the Internet, I must be some Internet scum living in my parents' basement doing that while waiting for my child pornography to download. I do more discussion of RenFaire stuff over the Net than I do person to person. I have the tutorials, which are an exploration of writing in general even though the focus is on fanfictions. I read print books without pictures. I go to concerts and movies. I have nookie with my boyfriend. I help remodel my parents' house. I rent my home, I go to my job, and I get paid every two weeks. I have electric bill, phone bill, water bill, Internet access bill, car note, two credit cards, insurance; what more do I need before I have a "real" live?
This is why that board needs a moderator, the first slam should have gotten her access revoked. Why keep letting her in if she doesn't like the cartoon anymore? Save us a lot of grief.
To be more constructive, I answered FoxFire's question: Re: What has the Bros done for you?

They got me the bathroom to myself every school day my senior year. Seriously, since I had to wake my sisters up for school and I wanted to see the show, I was dressed before I woke them up. And I had the TV all to myself while they fought over the bathroom. That was original run of the show.
This site proved that I wasn't the only one who enjoyed this show. It gave me courage to take an awful fanfic and turn it into something worthy of publishing. The project was a wonderful distraction from the summer of Spanish hell, when that was the one class standing between me and my Bachelor's. And in the process I have found some talented people that I'm happy to call friends.
Biker Mice isn't my life, it's a part of my life. And as far as the "it's made up and not worthy of anything" argument goes, fiction is the way to getting to the truth of human existance. It allows you to escape (and there is nothing wrong with that) and empathize with others. It teaches you to become better than you are.
In my professional opinion, some need to stop typing and read more.

Hence the germ of an idea I'm exploring more fully in the blog. I'll probably add my old credo once I find it.
In current events: Chad had to work on tax stuff last night, so I actually got through the lynching in "The Rose." Since I now have some dead time at work, I'll probably be getting it finished today.
Valentine's Day officially sucks. Our first one and he's going to Florida. It's job related, so I'm trying to be supportive but it was a bitter disappointment.
And now the mail is here so back to work.

How does it relate to fanfiction?
You know there maybe a tutorial lurking in these scattered thoughts.
Now having covered the benefits of fiction, I had to ask myself why bother writing fanfiction. You can't sell it, some owners get down right snarly about it, and it seems on the surface such a waste of time.
Something created is never a waste of time.
And the readers who enjoy it are getting the same benefits that were listed for original fiction.
If nothing else, fanfictions make good practice. Many have gone from fanfiction writing to book publishing (and I can't wait till my name is on that list). Hell, Peter David has made a lucrative career out of book publishing fanfictions. (Paramount does not consider any Star Trek books canon, FYI.) Looking at my writings, I started by rewriting books I had enjoyed reading. Fanfictions are hardly any different. For many people it's their first foray into writing; they could make things more difficult without using the established characters, settings, situations; but don't they have enough just learning to put together a coherent story?
At this point, fanfiction writing for me is practice and a source of pride. I love the stuff I chose to write about (I have to get the stories out of my head regardless) and I have readers I make happy.
And really that is what it boils down to, making your readers happy. Even if you totally upset them with what happens in the story, they'll respect you for doing it. And that somehow transfer to readers' happiness. *Shrug* I don't understand it either. But I do know I absolutely hated what happened in Mostly Harmless, but I'm going to get and read the sixth Hitchhiker someday.

Why Write Fiction?
Quote of the Day: My job is to comfort the disturbed and to disturb the comfortable. -- anonymous bumper sticker
Invariably (I think it's on a time schedule of every two years), someone sneers and says you shouldn't waste your time with something made up. (For the latest example: Iria's message). It forces you into an examination of why you do what you do. One of my creative writing teachers said these thoughts should be put down in a credo and updated frequently. Since I really don't know where my credo has ended up (though something tells me I will find it as I clean), here's the thoughts I've had so far since the topic has surfaced.
The above quote sums up what a book and by extension what a writer does. It is getting a story out of your head, and reaching out to touch someone else. You've been touched by books, TV, movies before; made to laugh, made to cry. (And if you haven't don't tell me, I'd rather not know a sociopath is reading my blog.) The first book to make me cry: well, it was a movie Edward Scissorshands.
The theme of a story is its lesson, the moral of the story. The earliest stories have always strived to explain how the universe works in relation to us. Myths, Aesop's fables, Jesus's parables are all true. Modern stories are no different, the lesson is more subliminal. Not that all writers have such a lofty motivation, but when you chose to write an adventure story in which good triumphs over evil because that is what the genre requires, you are choosing to support that morality.
The market for fictionalized true life stories holds true too. Schindler's List, Seabiscuit, Titanic (okay that may be a cheesy example), have a moral at the heart and must be shifted to become entertaining. The truth (i.e. something that happened in real life) has been the basis of many a story. There really was a Sam Shepard, and his wife was murdered before the invention of a one-armed man for the Fugitive. Other writers have used that case as well.
How does all this relate to fanfiction? A topic for tomorrow.

My office threw up all over my living room
Saturday: I had to go to a birthday party for my grandfather 80-years-old now and the Bedlam Bards concert at Jaime's. For all that fun, I had to do housework on Sunday.
Well I finished the laundry. I then shifted everything loose or in boxes or what I need to go through out of the office and into the living room. Going through all of it and put it away (or hopefully actually getting to throw some of it away), is going to be a week long project. At least the stacks in the office can't kill me now.
Story notes: I finished "In Sickness." Ahead of schedule by a week really. Not that I care about winning or losing the Mammajammer's Madness, but I was already working on it and I'd feel bad if nobody submitted anything. Still waiting on Jazz to answer her email on "Rat." Probably going to spend the rest of lunch tweaking the crossover so it can go up on the next update.

Finally Got the Car Back
Quote of the Day: Be critical. Women have the right to say: This is surface, this falsifies reality, this degrades. -- Tillie Olsen
That's right I finally got my car back, nice and shinny. But missing the antenna. *Shrug* Why can't I win?
Anyways, it is payday and I have to go shopping. I am out of too much stuff.
Need to finish "The Rose" and start on the rewrite Morning suggested for "In Sickness." I also need to write a couple tutorials on cliffhangers, that will take care of the writing tutorial buffer. Still need to work on Grammar Guides and Editing Lessons.

I Feel Drained
Quote of the Day: So long as women are slaves, men will be knaves. -- Elizabeth Cady Stanton
I don't think I slept well due to being angry over my car. No I still don't have it back yet, because my father is a slothful ignoramous. And I'd be calling about it right now, except for the fact that I'd be waking Mom up. Mustard woke me up at 3:30am. I've probably gone overboard on sugar intake and that doesn't help at all.
So I'm going to make today a typing day and not try to stress my brain.

A week of no distractions
Quote of the Day: I wasn't allowed to speak while my husband was alive, and since he's gone no one has been able to shut me up. -- Hedda Hopper
Chad is out of town for the week, and I do miss him. But I'm hoping to get some projects finished, namely "The Rose" and "In Sickness."
It's aggravating to know exactly what has to happen in a story, and have no desire to do it. Is this that thing they talk about, being too kind to your characters? Or maybe I just don't like being in Beauty's head.

ARGH!!!
Quote of the Day: Show me someone who never gossips, and I'll show you someone who isn't interested in people. -- Barbara Walters
I'm tired. The cat woke me up at 4:30am, so lack of sleep. I'm tired of driving the truck. I'm tired of them holding my car hostage. I'm tired of putting gas into the truck. I'm tired of the truck trying to kill me every time it rains. And my ass is wet.
Hardly a good start to the day.
On the other hand, Fans! had a great Friday twist, even for pagan. The character isn't and it makes wonderful sense. Of course I bet I'm the only one reading this comic so I doubt it makes sense to anyone else.

Quote of the Day: If you haven't got anything nice to say about anyone, come sit next to me. -- Alice Roosevelt Longworth
Well, not really. I rejoined Writers' Digest Book Club a few months back and they have online selecting now. You can also plug into a wish list all the titles you want. So I'll be filling that now and stop trying to save the silly mailouts. WHen I have money, poin and click.

Flashback July 18, 2003
I'm just so tired. I'm ready to be done so I'm free again. Maybe once I'm free, I'll loose this constant pain in my shoulders. I'll get my house straightened out. I'll get my bathroom fixed. I'll get to see J.
Wishing at the moon. I know I'll get the rest of it, but the last two? I'm ready to be done with all of it. I just want to sleep forever.

Quote of the Day: The more articulate one is, the more dangerous words become. -- May Sarton
No more Monday holidays. Awww.
Sunday was the last day I and Chad work on the flooring project. I have too much stuff that is piling up when I only have the weekends to work on.
Lawsuits are finished so, I'm going to take this time to work on something from my To Do list.

ACK! Too Much to do
Quote of the Day: Besides Shakespeare and me, who do you think there is? -- Gertrude Stein
I promise to get to answering emails as soon as I can. Things have just been really hectic at work, and I haven't had a weekend off in what, a month?
This weekend was clean Faire site, which got stretched over two days, and get the tutorial newsletter and the Library update finished. Monday was off from paid work, and putting down my mother's new hardwood floor. Actually what I'm rushing home to work on some more.
So since this is a short post; I'll get to those emails now.

Friday and aftermath
Drive home thoughts
Blogs may not get done at all. My supervisor is a nice lady when she's not supervising. As a supervisor, she is a paranoid, anal-retentive twit who hates to see us enjoying the day or with time on our hands. She'll stand up for us at the same time refusing to get something that will make our jobs easier. I still don't know how these halves reconcile at night.
She says all I'm doing is playing on the Internet. I can't keep my notebook on my desk because that is playing on the Internet.
What it is is bullshit. I'm doing my work and it shouldn't matter that I write a sentence between every five lawsuits. But because we don't do any work unless her eagle eye is on us (in her mind anyway), it matters. I've been dwelling on it the whole way home and now I'm crying and I'm blaming hormones. But it's still bullshit.
Aftermath
I went to Chad's that night, but stopped at a gas station on my way there. A beautiful orange tabby kitten stopped following the drunk he was with and followed me back to my truck. With visions of street pizza kitten in my head, I went back inside with him. The drunk didn't want him, so I took him. His name is Mustard. It appealed to my sense of the absurd. Adopting him also got me out of the funk that the earlier news had put me into.
I'm going to smile and nod and pull it out at lunch. Or when we finish the stupid lawsuits (I estimate three weeks at the max) and she's fuming we have nothing to do.
Newsletter and updated Library go out tonight. Unfortunately, I don't have a new story. I'm too tired to keep working at it and tomorrow I have to help lay new floor down in my mother's house.

Is it possible to get a wireless notebook that will hold together?
Quote of the Day: Success didn't spoil me; I've always been insufferable. -- Fran Lebowitz
Driving home yesterday and trying to write in a regular notebook (having left my car notebook on my desk at work), pages started coming unglued from the spine and falling out. I like my pages neat for when and if I need to tear them out for loose-leaf, but I also need the pages in the notebook to stay in the notebook. Maybe I could put something through the holes.
Alt. BM Site and FoxFire's Palace are finally up and working. Talk about your headaches. I probably need to put a redirect to the new domain at http://bikermice.topcities.com/
But I don't get much of a breather this weekend. Everything else is due on the 19th, Monday. I don't even have the tutorial written yet. Meh, I wonder if Chad minds if I bring my work over?
I need to give myself a buffer with the tutorials. I hate having to produce them at the last minute. The Library's update shouldn't be as difficult, once I figure out what new story to upload. The choices:
A) Gargoyles: A Mist of Prophecies: Caught in the Folded Web Reason not to go up: haven't finished the second half of it yet
B) Legends of Hyrule: Hyrueliana Reason not to go up: needs another edit
C) To Be a Hero: Hero Awakens Reason not to go up: needs the first edit
D) Night Storm Reason not to go up: never finished the rewrite
E) Family, Friends, and Foes Reason not to go up: have one more edit to finish
F) Star Wars fanfic Reason not to go up: never finished writing it
G) Buffy fanfic Reason not to go up: never finished writing it
This is a hard list to compile without my records available. I've been concentrating on original fiction so long, that is immediately what pops to mind.
I want to put the blog inside the Library this update as well. So at least three things to do this weekend along with site cleanup that is scheduled.
It would be easier to write the tutorial if I didn't need to research. This I can jot down between lawsuit entries and hopefully find time to type later. What the hell. It's Friday and I have a deadline to meet.

Cleaning House Blues
Quote of the Day: The opposite of talking isn't listening. The opposite of talking is waiting. -- Fran Lebowitz
Between the apple crisp air freshener and apple scented dish soap and orange scented Clorax wipes, my kitchen is starting to smell like a fruit stand. It's a little less of a disaster area now. I still need to exchange microwaves, and sort my toolboxes, but at least the majority of the dishes are clean and the water bottles refilled and the new clock hung on the wall.
We did cubicle rearrangement over a week ago, and the phone numbers still haven't been switched. At this point I may just save them the trouble. I think the phone wire I have at home is long enough.
I think I have worked out the kinks in my email the to do list plan. And since I'm going through things trying to cut down on the extra papers I'm carrying (and losing), here's the notes I made on the next scene in the Rose.
Rose Notes 1/07/04
1). Show Beast through Beauty's eyes: fawning, courtious, offering the rose coursage, tricked into going upstairs with Beauty
2). Beast had no date, Beauty lures him upstairs with a story how hers went up with another girl
3). Beauty leads him to a hotel room, 4 boys attack and lynch him, leave the body in the room
4). School and hotel officials conspire to hide the murder and shield the students
5). The Rose of the title now signifies the corsage.
6). The narrator gains a new mission on Earth which needs to be mentioned with the last bit about the ghosts.
There now I can't lose this. :D
This note I was keeping because of a URL. I think I have it bookmarked at home, but I'll put it here just in case: www.ipsrx.com
Not bad; I think I'm down to 4 sheets now.

I Always Forget One Little Thing
Quote of the Day: I'm tough, ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, okay. -- Madonna
My to do list; I'm going to have to develop a better way to transport it. Maybe I should email it from home and work. What I have been doing is transferring the items not done yet to the next day's once I reach the office in the morning. And I forgot yesterday's list at home today. Did good otherwise, even made it into work early enough to read the web comics.
I even remembered the quote book, Wild Words From Wild Women. I'm going to try to list a quote I find memorable every day that I post. We'll see how long this initiative lasts.
I also need to figure out how to keep better track of deadlines. They are self-imposed deadlines, but I would really like to start meeting them. The problem is not having one central location for reminders. And you see how well carrying it with me works with the to do list. I'm considering the calender in my Yahoo Group.
In other news, the BookWorm's Library is finally ad-free. And I shouldn't get those "over bandwidth" messages any more. I'm going to have to pay more to get the new domain name set up, but I think for my long-term plans it will be worth it. Having a new webmail addy will be pretty cool. And it looks like the new domain for Alt Biker Mice Site is working too. More on that as it develops.

Ouch, ouch, ouch!
My longest To Do list yet. My To Do list have changed. Now I have to list everything that I need to do on the Internet but I can't until lunch or until the work is all done. I have no idea when we'll have that free time again.
And of course, I gave an opinion on Biker Mice From Mars Unofficial Fan Site's Discussion Board and had my throat jumped down. I guess I'm going to have to do what Jazz did and drop it completely. I do lurk in case something comes up, but honestly, all they ever do is chat to each other. At least BMFM related questions go up at Red Planet and people are working on fanfics and fanart.
Lunch hour almost up. Time to see if I can cross something off my list.

The Deer is probably dead
Going to pick my car up from the Inn (Dripping Dog Inn which is a building on the RenFaire site that Chad lives in), I saw a huge flock of buzzards. Over twenty; it's been a while since I've seen that many all at once. We all think that's where the wounded deer ended up.
I should have took pictures of the damage, but forgot all about my digital camera. Still shook up I guess. Our insurance decided to cover it under comprehensive, which means I only have to pay a $250 deductible. I can pay that so much better than $500. But the car is driving fine, so all that is wrong is really cosmetic. Though I'd feel happier without the deer hairs caught in the broken glass. We got the car to the collision center repair people today, and they said it would be finished sometime next week. So for now I get to drive the truck to work.
Chad is shooing me home before dark. I don't know what he'd be doing if I had real hysterics on him that night. I know he cares, and it's having to get used to that I guess. I don't know.
Mom got me an early birthday present, the hall tree I had found shopping earlier that Saturday. It's a repruduction peice with a faux marble top, but I love it to peices and it looks great by my front door. Too bad I can't find the entertainment center I need for $50.
Happy birthday baby sister!

And today was such a good day
I was bringing Chad home and we hit a deer with my lovely, lovely car. Not so lovely now. Nobody was hurt except the deer. It was a buck; I saw the horns and you can tell where a horn hit the windshield. Damage tally: Hole in left corner of bumper, cracked headlight cover, dents in left panel, dents in hood and possibly roof, driver's side mirror gone, cracked up windshield that will spiderweb completely. It was sometime between 7:30 and 8:30 at night; it was 8:30 by the time we reached the Inn.
Have no idea what the verdict will be from insurance.

Finally got some time to type!
Well apparantly, I have done a better job limiting my Internet use at home than at work. The supervisor decided to move three of my coworkers and me (the reason cited for me is that I'm hanging on the Internet). We switched cubicles yesterday. Despite being more visibe to the office, I think I got a better deal. My new cubicle is bigger.
So here I am, jotting this entry in a notebook, because I keep leaving home late and have not time to type before work, and hoping I'll have time to type during lunch. (Hence the title.)
It seems like the mad rush of renewals is over, and we're catching up on lawsuits. For some reason, our office was given the task of entering details of personal injury lawsuits into a database. Mind numbing work and since we have a couple thousand to enter in, we'll be at it for a while.
You'd think I'd be getting a lot done at home. Sunday was my last day of energized cleaning. Monday was an evil late night--left work at 6:45pm and madie it home by 7:45pm (no crashes due to a Holden wanna-be bank robber trying to evade the police very badly). Foxy and I worked on upgarding Alt BM Site, and then discovered we had to wait 24 hours before uploading new content. Tuesday was a doctor's appointment and rest of the day with Chad, which I cut short to go upload and we still hadn't gotten the new info. It didn't come Wednesday either, and I could have spent that time working on something but read instead. Until a mouse sighting at 11pm galvanized me to go clean the kitch. Obviously, I'm going to have to do something about the office.
It's not like I'm running out of projects. If anything, that list always gets longer. I just have no energy when I get home. Though, I think I can blame yesterday's lethargy on the sugar binge on the drive home.
Driving--my brakes were making funny noises and made me worry on wet streets this morning. Might be time to replace tires.

All Right Already
That man of mine is not eating up too much of my time :p Sad truth of the matter is I got used to not blogging on weekends and we just had another 4 day one. Happy New Year's from the state.
And I forgot to ask again about giving out names. LOL I should reread this tomorrow and remember.
Wednesday night had the New Year's party, actually two. Ended with fireworks and bagpipes.
Thursday: boy friend had lunch with my family. My family didn't scare him off. Course, he says "I have met most of them over the course of four years."
Friday: rented a storage unit and not for my own junk. Back in July, Mom got the gumption and started renovation the former garage. It's only been enclosed for four or five years now. Stuffed stored in it moved to my grandmother's storage shed and my porches until they got finished. I think they promised me two weeks.
Saturday me and my boyfriend filled the storage unit with their boxes so we could move some of the furniture into the shed and I would have porches again and stop feeling so damn claustrophobic in my own house.
Sunday I finished cleaning most of the back porch. Still one junk can to go through, and I have to figure out where to store some other items. I also fixed my great-grandmother's Mission style loveseat, and finished most of the pages for the Alt. BM update tomorrow.
I'm exhausted.

Flashback Dec. 19, 2003
Office party for Christmas today as well as one of our student worker's 21st B-day. And I'm going to have to start loading my car at night. Her birthday present is sitting on my desk with the rest of the office Christmas gifts.
Got the newsletter emailed out and some new people have joined the list; people whose emails I don't recognize. :D
Alt. BM Site's update is delayed due to financial considerations. It does give me time to work on the graphics.
Weekend plans: Mythos LARP at the Faire site. I need to establish my NPC bard character. I've bought a leather-bound journal to write in while I'm playing.

New ideas
I plan on uploading the update for Alt BM on Jan. 5th. That should be enough time for contributors to get their submissions in. Everything else is due on Jan 19th.
My big new idea is called "Flashback." Occassionally, I write myself dated notes and in an effort to clean out notebooks, I'm posting them in the blog. Saves me from having to come up with new material on the days when I haven't got anything, and also lets you into this wacky brain of mine a little more. Right, like you really want to know more. Those entries will be titled "Flashback" with the date, so you're warned.

That's All I Ask of You
Oh it was beautiful. The Saenger Theater's Italian Baroque style fit with the stage scenery for Phantom of the Opera. And I loved how they shifted to different locations of the opera house with the minimum of sets. Highlights would be the crashing chandelier, the elephant for Hannibal, the moving staircase as the actors went down into the basement, and the candles that came up through the stage floor. I'd love to see how that was managed.
I took yesterday as my be-a-lazy-bum day. I refused to get dressed and spent the day coloring desktop wallpaper, and trying to organize the From Mars archive into something I can put up and people will be able to use the links inside it. I also finished the second story in the Evil Jack series "In Sickness." *Shrug* It was my lazy bum day and I wasn't working on anything I didn't feel like. Which means original works have become too guilt ridden and a must-do.
I will get back to them.

What a week
We have been so busy at work, I haven't had a chance to type in the blog daily. I doubt next week will be much better since all the renewals are due by January 1st. We went to my sister's for Christmas and had a lovely time. She got Phantom of the Opera tickets for me for tonight. Course her way of keeping me in the dark, left me the distinct impression she needed my boyfriend and I to help her move. My boyfriend would have appreciated a heads up on what clothes to get though.
The other odd thing was I went and took pictures of Normal Hill, which is the oldest part of campus and I have always gotten strange vibes from it. I was hoping for something to submit to Ghoststudy. I took the pictures with my digital camera, put that camera back in my purse and left it alone. (That would be how it traveled up to Natchitoches.) Go to download the pictures this morning and there is nothing on the camera.
Oh well, so much for my ghostbusting. Have to go get ready and get the new printer installed.

Daily Report
I'm still speechless. Return of the King is phenomenal. No scouring of the Shire, but I understand stylistically why Peter Jackson changed it. And the Witch-King's helm crumpled like tissue. *Insert jumping up and down and giggling* And I want Eomer's helm. And shiny pretty swords for the hacking and slashing. And the green Arwen dress Museum Replicas is selling is in the movie, but I still say that is an ugly green. I'd rather have the riding dress or some of the velvet she wears. Or Eowyn's dress.
Editing week this week and I'm working on "The Rose." It dates back to 1996/1997, when I thought I could create a short story collection of rewritten fairy tales. It's my "Beauty and the Beast" story with a science fiction setting and unhappy ending. In an undetermined future of Earth, the people who have settled in space have ended up mutated and passed those mutations to their children. A mutant goes to Earth to discover what happened to her brother. In my original version, the Beast died of a broken heart when Beauty rejected him. I decided that's not realistic enough for any of the characters. Probably influenced by Emmett Till's murder story, but I think it will work to crystallize Beauty's characterization. And I thought I was wasting time with Crime Library.
Writing, I haven't been able to make much time for. Tonight I need to go home and work on web updates. The newsletter needs to go out; I really need to put up a sign-up box here as well.
Alt. BM Site needs the most work I'm afraid. We have to get set up for no-ads and FoxFire's Palace sub-domain. I need to make graphics and tweak others. Nothing too hard, just time consuming when I'd rather not spend my time at home. And tweaking the wall paper, I always forget that.
And I have to go to the store and get the sandwiches for the party at work tomorrow. The bad thing is that store would put me halfway to where I want to be instead of home where I will work. A laptop would come in handy for these situations.
I try as hard as I can to stick to the update schedule, but I have to admit the days do slip by. I should have the update ready for tonight. I'm not even close. Though the big deal is to get the no-ads and sub-domain done. I can finish the rest of the tweaks later. But all this blabbing about it doesn't get me any closer to finishing.

No time for anything fancy
"How many great literary works were written in totalitarian nations or under societal pressures, such as obscenity laws? Outlining seems like no restriction when compared to the rack or a firing squad." (J. Madison Davis Novelist's Essential Guide to Creating Plot 45)

Monday morning
Well, I got a lot done, but precious little of it was writing. Okay none of it. A writing schedule goes out the window when you have a boyfriend to go see. I'd bring my writing with me, but I know I wouldn't get anything done.
I do have two days this week to get some headway. Nothing will happen Wednesday night but "Return of the King." And I have to go Christmas shopping.

So little to do, so much time
Strike that, reverse it.
I just remembered that I have to updates due next week: the newsletter and Alt. BM site. And the website needs more work done on it.
One of these days I will have this stuff done way before time.

Megadoses of Vitamin C
Felt physically like crap yesterday (and the Blogger system wouldn't let me on to put in an entry). Felt worse today and took myself to the doctor. Probably just the common cold, bleuh! Currently taking over the counter medicine that was recommended and if it doesn't clear up in a week, time for antibiotics.
And I got a new (to me anyways) washing machine. But it needs a little help. Balancing and it's leaking from the outtake pipe. And on the last load I put in it, it decided to go waltzing across my back porch. All I know is right now I'm in no condition to deal with possessed appliances.
Writing isn't going as well as it should. Today I was occupied by trying to get to the doctor and trying to make sense of my money. Fun combination :p And this weekend isn't shaping up to be a catch-up weekend on it either.
Oh well, if only all my plans that go astray were for such wonderful reasons.

Well, Mom is happy
"Now we just have to find a man for Kai" was her exact quote. *Snort* My sister looked none too pleased with Mom's offer for matchmaking. I had to tell Mom because I got home about 10 seconds before she did, and her shift is from 2pm - 10pm. The last thing I want is for her to start panicking that overtime is taking that long.
No sugar yesterday (HUZZAH!), but no writing either. *Blushes* Gee, funny how I don't feel guilty about missing those two hours.
Lunch is almost over, so I best wrap this up. Here's to hopefully getting over on time tonight.

Walking on Sunshine!
Okay I think I finally got the white space I want with post titles.
Faire is over with for another season. And as usual, cast awards party is on the coldest night of the year on Saturday. And I didn't get any of the pig! *WAHAAA!* That's okay, because our scullery boy, Brian, promised more pigs for next year. But Sunday was bright and beautiful to end the season with. We had a cast wedding (a real wedding), and it was a beautiful ceremony. The bride was our Lady Scarlet O'Hara (not her character or real name). In Gone With The Wind, Scarlet makes a dress from curtains to try to woo Rhett. Our Lady Scarlet was stationed over in Iraq up until our second week, and came back with a new gold and white dress--made from curtains from one of Saddam Hussein's palaces. For her favors, she cut up the skirt because "everyone deserves a little piece of Saddam."
Faire season is over, and my diet and writing schedule begins today. Which I'm sure is confusing most people with the title I picked for this post. Maybe it doesn't if you know the song. I don't think I should say anything else; I don't want to jinx it.
MeatLoaf is a good choice for composing right now also. *Smiles* So yes, I'm in a good mood despite the pain in my foot and back and the six or seven buckets of mail facing us today. And I don't know what weekend we'll have free to do site pickup.

Not Enough Hours in the Day
My to do list is huge (no big surprise there). Overtime at work (K-time really doesn't feel worth it). An hour long commute back home. Is it any real wonder why I don't feel like doing anything when I get there?
I didn't think so.
Once Faire season is over, I'm restricting my sugar intake again. I'm sure part of the exhaustion is fluxation in blood sugar levels.
And during the ride home last night, I came up with my writing project list (the stuff that hasn't been regulated to the work on it in the next decade list). 10 items at different stages. I decided that the only way I'm going to make any headway into that list and make it a list of eight stories in submission land is to put myself on a strict writing schedule. Not counting overtime, I work 40 hours a week. If I can plan to spend 20 hours a writing tasks only, I should be able to conquer the list without much pain. And it should give me a good foundation for when I can quit the other job and live off my writing. It's an hour long drive and I have a vivid imagination.
2 hours a night Monday through Friday equals 10 hours plus 5 hours Saturday and Sunday equals 20 hours. Of course, it has to wait till next week to get started. :p Here's to setting goals for myself.

Finding it funny...
that I was the one who was badgered into keeping one of these and now seem to have more daily posts. Maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment.
Tickets have been bought for Dec. 17th. *Insert evil giggles here* Bring on the orcs! Bring on the orcs!
In related news, I liked how one hawker for a jewlery booth was taunting kids last Friday at Faire. "I have the One Ring and you don't." The booth has replicas. Also has hair twists which is what I advertise for them.
New website because I brought a new pretty Scrimshaw on Crystal. My coworkers have already gone snarly at me for showing them this website.

Time for Writing?
Doesn't appear to be much. Overtime is kicking into gear at work, and I'm exhausted and wired on caffinne by the time I get home. I did get more of the chronological plot outline for the Chosen typed last night. The next step once I finish that is to create the novel plot outline (deciding when ancient history will be revealed to the protagonists) and expanding into the scenes I will need.
Which, when I stop and think about it, is the same level of work I put into the crossover.

Bilge Pump Weekend
*Giggle* I got new CD, I got new CD. Yes, the Bilge Pumps were with us for the entire Thanksgiving weekend. Not as good as having them for the entire Faire run, but better than not having them at all. I bought the third CD for 4 songs ("Donkey Riding,"--and they think we give them hard cities *snicker* "Roll the Old Chariot Along," "The Dark Lady," and *yelling* "OLD DUN COW" MACINTYRE!!!!!) and "Pirating the Seas" and "The Night Pat Murphy Died" are loads of fun during the stage shows.
Maybe more later today.

Apparantly I missed everyone last night
But I am trying to spend time with my baby sister who has Thanksgiving off but not Christmas.
Finally got Java fixed on IE. And then discovered I am missing the Notepad replacement program I liked. Opened multiple windows without opening multiple versions of the program; came in wonderfully with web editing. Now apparantly is no longer available for download and I don't think I have the setup file anymore. Yes I am burning copies of that stuff now.
I also learned how you save your saved emails with Outlook Express. Too bad I learned it AFTER I lost everything that was in it when I reformatted the harddrive.
After reading "Novelist's Essential Guide to Crafting Scenes" and "Novelist's Essential Guide to Creating Plot," I'm trying to work on the Chosen's plot according to the workshop practices. I have a better idea where it's headed now, but I still need to iron things out. And having written stories with and without plot outlines, I have to agree with Davis' assessment: those that say they don't plot have the entire plot (or nearly the entire plot) worked out in their heads.

I'm officially finding therapy
... once I have time for sessions. Last night was not a good night, and I'm going to leave it at that. No sense ruining a new day with old mess.
On an introspective note, I guess I'm just too high strung for everyone. And I can't figure out how I've gotten this way or why it's the first thing to come out when I get home. Which is why I think I need professional help.
In the meantime, I'm going to start enforcing the "leave me alone for 30 minutes" rule.

Back to work
Monday morning and time to get back into the shortened groove of things. That's right only 3 days at the paying job this week, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Course my holiday is really only one day because I have to go work the non-paying job at the RenFaire.
"Write a little everyday" is the advice I got yesterday. I'm going to work harder at it.
"There's theater and there's firearms." A patron got under my skin critiquing how I was using the dueling pistol that is one of my props for my pirate captain. Good thing I don't load it. :p Anyways, that's the new reply we came up with after he moved on. I will be more careful with the dry firing that I do, but I do need it cocked when I have to put it in a patron's face. And yes, I had to do that with different patrons going where they're not supposed to be. Had one smart-alek point out I couldn't shoot it uncocked.
Onward to what I have to do.

Where I disappeared to
*SIGH* Where to start. I pulled a stupid while trying to install Windows XP on my D: drive. I ended up having to backup everything and reformat the harddrive in order to fix it. Only that screwed me up worse because I don't have any of the emails that I had saved (as well as my setting for Outlook Express) and the downloaded programs don't want to work now. I will be burning copies of those installations next.
While I was still dealing with that crisis (and having no modem connection as a result), my cousin was killed in Texas. He was drunk and walking on I-59 and was hit by an 18-wheeler early Sunday morning. We've been dealing with that since then. The funeral was today. He would have been 33 in December; I can't remember the date now.
So I'm slowly getting my computer back to its former operational status. I'm back online now, but still no real vacation.

Slow starting days
I do like this. Not having to rush. Unfortunately, just because I have time off doesn't mean I'm not working. I've been putting in a lot of physical labor at the Faire site, getting ready for our two student days. Today I have to go help move more benches and make sandwiches. I'll be sure to tell you when my arms fall off.
But before I go, I will be cleaning my office. This is ridiculous. The stacks are going to attack me.

Nothing like being clean
Technically today is a state worker holiday, so unofficially the first day of my vacation. Got sleep, had bath, now I get to go build benches. Yes, I know, rather silly to take a bath before a construction project but when I get home it will be a "soak away pain and dirt" bath and I didn't want to shampoo my hair.
Other plans: clean office (at least find my desk again) and work on the Chosen.
And I can't hate the radio station anymore. I complained last week that they had changed formats without warning. Well they also brought back my fave morning DJs Bo and Beth. I wasn't the only one who missed them. :) So I can deal with all the mellow music.

What I Would Like to Get Done on My Vacation
1). SLEEP!
2). A chapter of the Chosen
3). Finish the graphic work on the Library & Alt. BM
4). Benches
5). Sandwiches
6). Cleaning my office
7). Cleaning the back porch
8). Cleaning my car
9). Massage
10.) Write a few more tutorials
*Snort* I'll get 2 things done at least.
And I may finally be on TV!!!!!!! The Brit Chicks from the Scott Rogers show came to the Faire and taped the entire joust. I hope I'm not edited out.
My vacation starts Wednesday, but I got an extra day since Veterns' Day falls on Tuesday. Yeap, we've got it off. I'll be building benches, so how much of vacation will I get, I don't know.

Okay nothing is going to happen
I said that renewal season is in high gear. You see everyone that is licensed to sell insurance in Louisiana have to renew their license every two years. Which means we get to process checks every year, because Life&Health get even years Property&Casualty get odd. 40,000 Life&Health due before Jan 1st, 2004 and they were just mailed out Nov. 1st, and the smart people sending in now.
But what this means is no more fifty projects to work on while at work. I simple don't have the time anymore. So just bringing the Chosen and some reading material and that's it.

Almost done with the week
I had trouble getting to sleep last night and feel like blah. The fog doesn't help. And yes, I'm talking about actual fog.
Renewal season is kicking into gear.
My sister will be with us the entire week of Thanksgiving, probably at my house.
Writing News: Got the book buying page set up. Just have to add a few more books with the new tutorials. Going ahead and coding the new ones now, and working on a few things for Alt. BM Site. Then working on the Chosen.

Another night off
I hadn't planned on it, but I didn't get home until 6:40ish, after waiting for over 30 minutes on a pizza. Tuesday night bad for pizza, got it already. So I ate and watched Labyrinth, and was struck of the similarities between Jared the Goblin King and Eric the Phantom of the Opera.
Speaking of Phantom, I know what I want for Christmas! It's coming to New Orleans from Dec. 10th - Jan 4th. The last time it was in New Orleans was my senior year of high school, and trying to get the tickets for my birthday fell apart. Hell, I even tried to organize a field trip show and that fell apart. I am going this time even if I have to sit under the chandelier.
Well it wasn't a total night off, I did get a few more chapters of The Complete Guiding to Editing Your Fiction read. Found the chapter on pacing too.
Writing News: Finished typing GG#6. Now I have to create the selling book page. Also did a little brainstorming on the Chosen, not as much as I like but I have an idea of how the antagonism is going to work. Is it possible to come together and function as a team without liking one another? Now having typed that, I realize it's close to the premise of the crossover, and that I haven't ironed out my premise for the Chosen yet. Add that to noddling pile.

Tuesday is the suckiest day of the week
What the heck is wrong with radio stations? Just yesterday 92.3 was Awesome 80s. We don't have any other stations that play all 80s music. This morning they're lite rock. We have a gazillion stations for lite rock. I so wanted to call in and complain but didn't have a number. Probably a good thing.
Internet News: Did hear from my friend Jazz, so she is okay. :D And it looks like some of the plans for the Alt. BM Site are shaping up. Since it is now officially November, I have to get cracking.
Writing News: Well, I was confused yesterday. Had brought the commuting notebook in a different pocket of my satchel, but left the notebook with GG#6 at home. Today I have both.
Typing GG#6, planning and research on the next tutorials, website work, and the Chosen.

Monday Owies!
RenFaire Update: Saturday's gate count was 935, which is really good considering that the competition was the day after Halloween parties, All Saints Day activities, LSU Homecoming game, Voodoo Fest in New Orleans, and probably something else I'm forgetting. Don't have any numbers for Sunday. The experiment around the lake is great. We just want the bloody temperatures to drop.
And I want to stop hurting. I can't remember if I took a muscle relaxer last night. I think I did, but woke up with calf muscles that didnot want to move. On top of feeling like I could use another hour or two of sleep. Just get me through this week and next week I think I only have to come to work one day.
I still have to check on my pirates. One of them went down either Saturday night or Sunday morning and his friend took him home. A guard in my area had fun on the Front Gate and dislocated his shoulder. And one of my squires's broken boots gave her a hairline fracture. Well that's one way to get a new pair of boots for Christmas.
Internet News: FoxFire's Palace isn't the only site not working on the host, but I'm still annoyed about it. My friend Jazz has canceled her blog, but I haven't deleted the link yet. She hasn't answered my email either and I'm worried. I can't fly to England this month.
I think I can put pictures in this blog, but I haven't figured out how yet. May work on that tonight. Will be working on uploading the Palace if I can get the info, graphics if I don't.
Writing: I took Friday off, and no writing will get done during the six weekends of Faire (one down, 5 to go). Today, I want to do a little bit of editing on a fic in a mailing group I'm in. I think I'm typing GG#6. And I need to write ahead on the Grammar Guides, Editing Lessons, and Miscellanous Concerns like I am with Writing Tutorials. Less posting work I think. Need to work on the Chosen, at least brainstorm on how I want the opening to go.
I did find my commuter notebook, under the car seat where I had checked when I got gas. :p But I have left it at home today. D'uh!

D'uh!

RenFaire Dreams
Though more accurately, I casted fellow participants into a fantasy dream. The highlight was when I was in stage combat with live steel with a Scot. Now mind you, in real life, I have no combat experience. But in my dream, I ended the fight by grabbing his sword arm, holding it against my chest, and putting my sword to his neck. I like that move a lot, so I'm tossing into the story pile.
Speaking of stories, I've lost my commuting notes. :p I keep a notebook in the car to write in while stopped at red lights. I had it yesterday when I hit the Interstate at Denham Springs. So it's either lost in my car or lost in my house. I partially searched the car while cleaning out the garbage and didn't find it. I also looked over the kitchen, but didn't see it. But since that's the last room left to clean, I'll probably find it tonight. Now I should ask myself why I always leave the kitchen for last.
Last night I didn't get as much cleaning done because I stole the TV while I was at my parents' doing laundry. Finally got to an episode "Smallville" and a new episode of "Angel" (a show I followed so faithfully before no cable time). "Smallville" was amusing, how they tied in solar flare and the effect it would have on the solar battery Clark Kent and introduced Perry White played by Michael Mcean (ouch, I think I butchered that name). I recognized him from Radioland Murders and Short Circuit 2. "Angel" was a Halloween episode and poor Lorne. If you all thought I was bad with no sleep, at least I'm not an empath demon.
To Do: GG#6, work on updates, and graphics.

Do all the idiots have to use my route too?
Okay, I'm scrambling this morning to get ready because today is interview day. Spent 10 minutes trying to iron the hem to stay up in the blouse of my Tara Diddle suit. (We ended up stapling it once I reached work.) I have to take a pic of this suit; it scary similar to what the reporter wore on Biker Mice.
Anyways, I'm cruising along I-12 when the radio people tell me that there's a wreck involving two 18-wheelers and a car on the interstate at Denham Springs. Huge problems already because everyone fleeing Baton Rouge has moved to Denham Springs. I get off at Walker to get on Hwy. 190.
Hwy. 190 is crawling too. The radio people come back a wreck a mile past Walker on 190 and another wreck on I-10 that's affecting the 10/12 Split. (Actually it's a split and a merge, but the Split part got the name.) So I get off 190 and head for Magnolia Beach bridge, which is my last shot at crossing the Amite river. It is clear, HUZZAH! But still getting to my job via that route made me 30 minutes late this morning. I didn't splutter to bad getting in, just asking why they can't have their wrecks on the other side of the Mississippi River. And then my coworker found my car keys on the outside of my car in the door lock where I hadn't locked my car.
And the day hasn't even started yet. LOL
There was some confusion over Xant's dragon child. He's in the adult Zack picture I made with Hero Machine. The story isn't up yet, due to needing to rewrite the next two novels in the trilogy.
My books finally came in yesterday. *Happy dance* Started on Editing Your Fiction first, since that's what I'm in the middle of more or less. I like this guy already; he harps on theme and premise as much as I do.
To Do: the Chosen, GG#6 (I hate the verbs), and more house cleaning. I got my bedroom and living room done. Now I have to start laundry. Need to call Kai and tell her to make sure the washing machine is empty for 6pm.
Provided the idiots don't get in the way again.

According to CNN
They did a story on a guy with a blog about living in Hong Kong, and reported that most blogs are owned by teenage girls and are updated twice a month on an average. Hey! I beat the statistics!
Today is a new day and going to stick to diet. Well when I say diet, it basically means no sugar. I'll be exercising tonight; my back is killing me and needs a workout.
Played with Hero Machine last night. Kira sent me the URL. It's a flash program that allows us drawing incapable people to click a representation of characters. I tried making Allie and an adult Zack since they didn't have an age variable. I like how the adult Zack's expression and Xant's dragon child--who really needs a name--came out. Who's Xant? Boyo, I really need to work on getting that triology of stories rewritten and in the Library at some point.
Updating sites: I need to work on the Library and Alt BM a little each day, offline stuff. I'm tired of doing the mad dash to complete the update in the week before it's due. I have a few behind-the-scenes stuff to do, time consuming unfortunately. Good thing I have a couple of months before new stuff has to go up. :)
To Work on Today: GG#6, the Chosen, website design; if I get a bloody chance between mail runs ARGH! What do you mean it's already here!

Weekend Catch up
Last free weekend before LRF's opening day. We've got stables and some new benches and a mostly cleaned out concession stand and I have done everything I can do.
I'll have to get the construction projects for next year on paper so they can get approved to start in January. And of course let's not forget the new official Faire clean up day/weekend.
Alt. Biker Mice Site update was finally finished, and I have to thank Vinnie2. After all the griping he has done about artifacts in pictures, I did a little research and figured out how to clean up the logos for the site. Once I'm through with the testing process, they should be ready for the December update. Of course, I have lots of plans for the Dec. update, but when will I have time to work on them?
Mail's here already, damnit. I'm not through updating.
Need to do: GG #6 wite and type, (Pacing should be an Editing Lesson topic), the Chosen more typing and editing if I get to it, play with graphics at home.

Insert eye roll here
I hurt a newbie author's feelings. I suppose it's not her fault that I've stopped giving critiquest at Red Sands. I put a lot of effort into London's stories only to never even get a "thank you for reading" comment. Much less any revisions.
I doubt she'll like my expanded response much better. I'm not in an editing mood. And calling what I wrote at FF.net a blast doesn't speak highly of her desire to want to get better. But maybe there's hope that she actually read comments. Then again probably not.
I hate being a heavy. I hate it worse when I'm right and have to be the heavy on it.

It worked sort of
Well I got home on time yesterday and plopped into bed and couldn't sleep. Exhausted but couldn't sleep. Aggravating no? Time to up the exercise regiment.
Finished typing up the tutorial on cliffhangers only to find that it is really on trilogies. Either need to write more tutorials on cliffhangers or edit. Not sure yet.
To Do: Type in changes to Chapter Three of the Chosen, write GG#6, work on update. Need to get more of the Chosen printed out to find good bits I want out of it. Also need to get the other short stories that need tweaking printed. But use of the printer depends on how close my supervisor is watching it.

Staying up tonight
That's right; I'm going to stay up all night! Turned on the porch light cause I won't be home till 3am. Going to complete ignore everything I have to do typing and update-wise.
Yesterday, I went in for a massage for the first time. A college buddy's boyfriend is licensed. I'm going to need a lot more work. It helped but I need to work on my relaxation. I can't let go. Practice I guess.
To Do: Type in the changes to Chapter Three of the Chosen, write GG #6, type the writing tutorial I have written ahead, work on the update for Alt. BM. I'm going to try to look at my computer at home today so I can cross something off the list.

The Chosen
Some may know, The Chosen is an original science fiction novel, much flawed, and I'm currently working on revising it. Well when I work on it. I'm pushing myself to find the time and desire. Time constraints should ease now, and since I've made progress, maybe the desire will get stronger.
That's right, progress. I finished marking my changes for Chapter Three. Most of the principle characters have been introduced or alluded to (there's still one bad guy that hasn't gotten mentioned yet). And this is the point of the manuscript where my new ideas diverge widely from what I had written before.
boldly going indeed.

Late start
So much for going to bed early.
I bought my elf ears and finally made it to Our Lady of the Lake at 6pm. My great-aunt (the wife of my grandfather's half-brother) was mauled by their pet Rottweiller a week ago. She's in good spirits and has a good outlook. Two bad spots one on her arm and one on her leg. There is some fear that she may lose the leg, but she's not ready to accept that yet.
I stayed about an hour, then hit Wal-Mart for the rest of my shopping. It was 10pm before I reached my door. Course I'm too awake at this point, so I watch a new movie, actually the director's commentary and the deleted scenes for Monkeybone. It's silly, I love Brenden Fraser, and it was cheap on DVD. And just a little tidbit, it was supposed to be Stephen King as Stephen King but two weeks before they filmed that scene, he has infamous accident. So it is an actor, but he does a marvelous job for the three or four lines he has.
To Do List: Finish the update stuff offline tonight, work on Chosen, and GG#6.

Reminders
I have to go grocery shopping at Wal-Mart tonight. Need to buy elf ears at Party Universe on Drusilla Lane, and see my great-aunt in the hospital.
New item: promotion interview Wed. Oct. 29 2pm.
Stop using "what?" My coworkers that are the same age of my parents find it disrespectful. I think I use it because I see them as peers just older, but I guess I'm going to have to stop that.

Weekends & Peace keeping
Hey, the new schedule actually gives me time to go grocery shopping. WIGGY! Now will Wal-Mart actually have any Claritin D when I go tonight? They didn't this morning.
Weekends are gone bye-bye now. RenFaire has pushed into high gear now. We've got construction under control, and dress rehersal was a great success.
I hope by the time I get back online for chatting, the others have worked things out. Time is too short to be sniping over perfectly valid opinions.

Perfectionism
I destroyed my chance for a good night's sleep last night again, but Jazz and I had a long talk through IM. It was a good talk, since she pointed out what's wrong with me and I listened. My perfectionism is killing me.
I suppose everyone reading this who knows me (I suspect the majority of my readers) is having a duh moment. The epiphany is all mine, though I suspect it's more a case of being so frightened for my mental health I was able to hear it for the first time, and hopefully be strong enough to reclaim my life.
It scares me how fast I can switch from enjoying myself to everyone's attacking me, I'll never get the project finished, and I'm a total failure. It happens quicker the more exhausted I am and since I'm almost always exhausted... why don't I just throw in a maltov cocktail into the mix?
Striving for a perfect product is a good thing of itself. But I'm like an alcoholic, I can't stop. My balance and sense of self-worth plummets in the onslaught of the relentless perfectionism. The weirdest thing is it never surfaces with the work itself. The project can be flowing wonderfully, right on schedule, and then something else makes me feel like I have screwed it up beyond recognition. And I take it out on other people. It's not a behavior pattern I'm happy with.
I don't really know how it developed. It's been a behavior pattern for so long, I can't remember a time when it didn't happen. There must have been a time where I was willing to give myself some slack. There must have been a point where I learned this stressed out, tantrum throwing, fighting back against attacks that don't exist way of relating to my friends. It's a testament to their character that they're still my friends.
Enough analysis, what steps am I taking to reclaim my life? Less Internet for one. The daily stuff--reading the comics, columns, and this blog--I'll do first think in the morning. Then it goes off. Email I'll get and I'll arrange time to chat with people. This starts next week. That will give me time to take care of my updates for both the tutorials newsletter and Alt. Biker Mice Site.
Cutting back on the sugar. As a carbohydrate-sensitive, all it does is make me fate and give me violent mood swings, probably fueling my addiction to perfectionism to the extreme it is now. Plus I'm looking really chubby around the middle and shedding that will make a load of difference.
Cutting back on the caffeine. I'm not drinking enough water, and the caffeine is keeping me from sleeping. Constant state of dehydration also effects my mental state. Hopefully, less caffeine will lead to my next change.
Getting more sleep. The alarm clock is changing back to 5 am. The exercise at 4:30 am is not working. Also I'll be going to bed at 9:30 pm. No more 11 pm nights. And this better help with the excessive tardies I got flagged with in my annual review.
Getting more exercise. Since 4:30 am isn't working (no matter how energetic I feel for the rest of the day I can only do it two days), I'm moving it to 6 pm when I get home. Hopefully that'll give my body enough time to slow down for sleep. But I have to do something about my level of physical fitness and the extra weight. Diabetes has done too much damage in my family. Besides, exercise is supposed to be a mood enhancer too.
This was supposed to go out early this morning, but apparently there was a brouhaha yesterday that I missed due to class and every time I thought I had a free second, it became meeting time. Now that this is finished, it is time for bill paying.

Home a whole 2 hours early and does anything get accomplished? Hell no.

What the hell happened?
Class was great and sparked a lot of new ideas. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to work on any of them yet.
Got home and got an email that one of my pirates has to quit. Then I get the IM from one of my four now three squires down past New Orleans way. She just found out that #4 and the one with the car has up and moved to Georgia. Well we think we have their rides ironed out now.
So out goes the "come on be honest with me" email. Last workshop is the 18th, dress rehersal is on the 19th, and opening day is Nov. 1st. There is no more time to recruit new people. I can deal without pirates--even though I'd hate to lose Marco and Polo--but I absolutely have to have squires. At least tell me now so I'll have my fits over with before opening boom.
So now I'm going to try to work on the update and put this aside for now. There's nothing I can do about it.
So why do I feel like I fucked up as a leader?
Oh for those that don't know, this babble was brought to you by !The Louisiana Renassiance Festival

Access class and webpage brainstorming
The Access class is for work. Two days and hopefully I'll understand what I'm doing with my book catalogue at home now. *Sigh* I liked the Lotus database. Too bad the version I had refused to run on Windows XP when I upgraded.
As for webpage brainstorming, I have lots of plans for Alt. Biker Mice Site. Some of which are going to be slowly introduced into the site so updates will happen on time. Also as a reward for those who contribute in a timely fashion. Hopefully in a couple of updates I'll just be left with the vanished ones to upgrade.
*Sigh* And just found out via email that something is wrong with the FoxFire's Palace pages. Another item to add to the to do list.
To Do: Well, because of the class any web work will have to wait until I come home (but I come home easrly for 2 days straight yeah!). Writing on the Chosen and Grammar Guide #6, both which are going no where fast.

Day Two
Here's to hoping I've learned how to use this things a little better.
Some conclusions I need to address.
1). I don't get enough sleep. Alarm is set for 4am so that I will exercise from 4:30 to 5:30 then get dressed and be out the door to drive to work at 6:30am. Needless to say, the exercising doesn't happen and I'm hustling to make my 6:30 out-the-door deadline. I go to bed around 10pm.
Well I counted, that's only 6 hours. Going up to 8 hours of sleep would put me going to bed at 8pm. I don't get home until 6pm. Haven't figured out what to do about it yet, but this sleepy feeling doesn't help anything.
2). I'm ruthless with a story. Vision is true and I don't compromise for anyone. Yet I'm afraid of hurting people's feelings when I'm just me and not avatar story vessel.
I sympathize with Carbine, but I can't say I like her. Considering that I correctly hypothesized her existance before season two started, I suppose I should like her more. I guess I'm getting better, considering that I killed her off in Jack-of-all-Trades. So why does it worry me so when I think someone is putting me in the Carbine haters club? Is it cause I don't hate her but haven't gotten to explain her side of the story?
Plans for today: Have to work on the Alt. BM update; the Chosen, type the extra tutorial I have already written, and write Grammar Guide #6. I also need to work on getting more exposure to the books for sell through Amazon.

My First Post (that has come in second)
Well, this is my first post. I have succumbed to peer pressure and got me one of these silly things. I'm hoping to use it as stress relief so to stop having what is called my "blow ups" at work.
Well I think I figure out why this hasn't showed up. No title. So here I go again.

New first message (since it won't put it up)
Well, this was my first post.

It refused to go up and I thought the title was the problem. So I tried editing it with an added message.

It still refused to post and I'm seriously peeved at the whole damn process, so here's my third attempt at my first post.

Why do I still have only one post?
Okay, this is the third one. I have about 15 minutes left to lunch to actually get writing done. Gee that's not happening today. And all I see is the stupid second post and not my first that should be second. This is VERY frustrating. Red, why did you suggest this to me?!!!!!!

Trying to make something show up
This is frustrating. It told me that it has published so I should be able to read it. Hell no I can't read it yet, and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. All I do know is I'm wasting valuable writing time trying to figure this out.
